Teaching Ad Literacy

image-sidewalk-strollAdmongo.gov is a U.S. government created website for kids that provides several interactive modules for developing awareness around advertising.

The virtual sidewalk gives learners a chance to stroll down a city street and analyze ads on billboards, bus stops and other commonplace venues.   A virtual mini-mart visit walks students through ad messaging in magazines and other print media kids encounter day-to-day

For public libraries:

A good reference for caregivers looking for media literacy resources for tools.  Some kids may enjoy the game-like environment enough to play with the site if it’s included on a library kids’ page.
